  Equity and Cash Requirements

The establishment and operation of a Tech Hero, like the founding of any business, requires sufficient capital and adequate cash to cover the development, initial operating loses, training, advertising and many other normal and customary grand opening expenses.

To insure that the owner has adequate capital to work through the initial startup and early growth period, we recommend that the Franchisee has a minimum of $30,000 in cash, marketable securities or other liquid assets. Corporations and partnerships formed specifically to establish and operate the business would be expected to show the capacity and liquidity necessary to make the investment required as described above.

  Educational and Background Requirements

As in other businesses, the success of a Tech Hero Franchise relies heavily on the entrepreneurial experience and energy of the owner. The brand recognition adds a great benefit, but the ultimate success of the business hinges on many factors; location, quality, customer service, advertising and leadership. The indefinable qualities of the entrepreneur are often the difference between an outstanding business and a mediocre business. The net revenues of identical businesses will vary dramatically depending on its owners. The running of a Tech Hero business involves many more factors than simply servicing computers. Accounting, payroll, tax filings, hiring and advertising are some of the added responsibilities. Learning the service end of this business is often easier than learning the administrative end.

The profitability of your business depends on proper financial administration (controlling cost of labor, cost of goods, etc) and on proper service administration (controlling average dollar per ticket, service add-ons, etc).

  Optional Equipment

There seems to be no limit to the equipment one could buy for a computer repair business. We recommend that you choose from these additional pieces of equipment carefully and base the purchase on return-on-investment and your area requirements. Specialized advanced skills might require specialized diagnostic or repair equipment that exceeds the demand of regular repair work. Computer equipment and inventory is often purchased through a leasing company with as little as 20% down. Tech Hero, LLC. will provide our Franchisees with a number of leasing and financing options. Most of the equipment leases are established for a fixed 3 to 5 year term with either a one-dollar or ten percent buyout, depending on your particular tax strategies.

  Training

Though tuition is included in the Franchise Fee, travel and living expenses will be charged to the Franchisee. The 5-day Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator course is offered in 230 locations. Travel and living expenses will also be charged to the Franchisee for the 4-day hands-on management training which is conducted in Orlando, Florida.

  *Office Lease

A Franchisee might choose to enter into a lease of an office building or office space. The Rental/Lease costs vary dramatically depending on local and regional factors, as well as the type of lease negotiated and the length of the lease.

  *Leasehold Improvements

If a Franchisee chooses to lease an office building or office space then Leasehold improvements might be needed. These will vary by location. Build-to-suit buildings will require very little improvements whereas a building conversion might require improvements in excess of $15,000. Improvements such as painting, counter construction, lounge clean up and door openings may be considered part of leasehold improvements. The cost of signage varies depending on need, exposure and location. A Tech Hero business located inside a shopping center might use a common marquee sign. Other locations might require the design and construction of a pole or monument sign. Still other businesses might only need a sign on the building to get exposure. The advertising adage, "A business without a sign is a sign of no business" applies to the computer service industry as well. Estimated costs $0-$15,000.

  *Security Deposits

Rent, Utilities, Sales Tax and other security deposits will be required if the Franchisee chooses to lease an office building or office space. Security deposits vary greatly by location. Estimated costs $1,000 to $5,000.

  *Office Furniture & Equipment

If the Franchisee chooses to lease an office building or office space, then furnishing the office will require additional funds.
